CWEA Bylaws

Amendment of the CWEA Bylaws

Since the Annual Business Meeting the Bylaws Committee has taken the proposed Bylaws changes and incorporated several topics not addressed previously.
If you are a member of CWEA, you should have received a postage prepaid ballot to cast your vote for or against adoption of the proposed Amendment to the CWEA Bylaws.  If you do not receive a ballot by February 14, 2017, you may contact Alan Will at awill@jmt.com  or on 301-908-8096.

Membership Vote on Proposed Amendment of the CWEA Bylaws
The proposed changes are summarized below.  Please note that the items shown in bold have been incorporated subsequent to the version you were given last year.
·         Change the CWEA Fiscal Year to coincide with the calendar year.  This is already the case and the Bylaws are being updated to reflect that.
·         Modify the makeup of the Board of Directors.  Specifically, the PWO Member Representative will become the Utility Member Representative.  The PWO (Professional Wastewater Operations) Member Representative represents the CWEA’s PWO Members and represents the association on the PWO Regional Council, which no longer exists.  The Utility Member Representative will represent the interests of utilities and operators.
·         Revise the terms and term limits for various Officer positions.
·         Clarify that one person cannot hold two voting offices on the Board of Directors at the same time.
·         Revise the process for nominating Board Officers for election by the membership.
·         Clarify and define the roles, duties, and qualifications for the various Board of Directors Officer positions.
·         Allow the use of electronic voting for membership votes such as Officer elections and future Bylaws revisions.  (Among other advantages, this will allow all CWEA members to have a voice in their organization, not just those able to attend in person at the Annual Business Meeting.)
·         Modify the formation and organization of CWEA committees.
·         Clarify and refine various financial controls.
·         Miscellaneous minor corrections, simplifications, and clarifications.
Below this announcement you can review:
